Artifact Donations
If you have an item you are interested in donating to Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum, please reach out to Education Curator, Molly Trivelpiece at 252-986-0721 or molly.trivelpiece@dncr.nc.gov. We cannot accept donations without an appointment.
Where you found your artifact is important!
If you find an artifact on the beach, the best thing to do is leave it! The beaches on Hatteras Island are part of the National Park Service’s Cape Hatteras National Seashore and are federally protected (which includes any items on the beaches). If you feel the artifact may be of significance or in danger of washing away, you can take a picture, mark the location with GPS point (available on your smartphone map), and call the Cape Hatteras National Seashore at 252-473-2111.
The museum cannot accept items brought in that were found on the beaches in the Cape Hatteras National Seashore.
